Gosh. I could write my own blog with how dreamy this guy is.

Maybe its his cool demeanor, or maybe its his perfectly pressed bright colored polos

... or maybe because he acts like he has something to hide.

He's my television crush and since the past two episodes of the new season have gone by, I've become completely obsessed.

It must have something to do with the fact that in a rare moment Dexter admitted his true feelings for Rita... love.

That's right, this monster can love.

What a fixerupper for any woman to fall in love with. Now, he's a good looking single dad with a great job in Miami. The classified ad writes itself.

How can Esther give that face such a hard time? Its been a difficult storyline to watch, and I'm hoping that at SOME point there is some resolution between the two characters. How heartbreaking was Dexter and Cody's goodbye? I'm wondering since Dexter admitted his love to Rita, does he feel the same about Cody and Esther?

Also, does anyone else get scared shitless every time Dexter's dad just appears out of midair?

So for now we'll see where this love affair goes, but in the meantime, I will continue to stare at him on my computer screen ( I don't get showtime ) and think about what could be.

Casualties of the new season

Here is a great video I found of a panel from one of MY favorite tv blogs, televisionwithoutpity discussing their least favorite shows of the season so far.

Man, they are really HATING on Running Wilde! Wtf!! I mean, I know its not the greatest show on tv YET, but can we Parks and Recreation this bitch and give it a chance?

But this panel does bring up a good point: Why would Mitch Hurwitz try to get a new show on a network that canceled his brilliant creation? Does Fox just have it out for him?

I guess we'll see where this show takes us. Its on tomorrow but I will not be watching due to a Red Sox documentary that will be on ESPN at 8 about the 2004 series, I'm so lame. BUT, never fear, for there's Hulu afoot, and I will surely catch up.

But, in the meantime, these people provide great insight, so enjoy!

And you don't look a day over 27... honestly. Who didn't grow up watching The Flintstones? What a timeless show.

And on that note, who didn't grow up eating Flintstone's Vitamins? So yummy.

Even though it was a cartoon, it did a lot more for television than people think. Not only was it the FIRST show on television to show a couple sleeping in the same bed together (think about it), it also depicted adoption and infertility, Betty and Barney couldn't have children of their own, so they adopted Bamm-Bamm

No wonder it was the first cartoon to be nominated for an Emmy for Best Comedy.

From movies to merchandise and vitamins, the Flintstones are timeless and groundbreaking. There would be no Simpsons and Family Guy without them. I mean, they sold cigarettes for their adult audience! How Mad Men of them.

After multiple spin-offs and cartoon/live action movies later (How great was John Goodman?), they are still relevant in today's society. They moved past the stupid kid bullshit and wrote clever comedy that people of all ages could relate to. They pushed the boundaries in television because they knew they could, and showed how much of an impact a cartoon can make.

What an amazing series, lets relive some of the great moments, shall we?

Oh jeebus. Lonestar was canceled after only TWO episodes. That's pretty embarrassing honestly, especially since critics were raving about the new series, staring Jon Voight.

Apparently, it went from a 1.3 rating on the Neilsen chart to a 1.0 from its first to second week, gaack

ANNDDDD its the first cancelation of the new season! HOORAY!

But it is kind of sad that networks can't even TRY to save a show that's getting good reviews, it really shows how important a marketing campaign is when a great show is getting zero viewers. Maybe network executives are to blame?

However, in one article, it was said that many critics thought this show would have been better on cable, not network television.

Ahh, cable. A wonderful world where shows like Boardwalk Empire can get picked up after only ONE EPISODE AIRED. That's unheard of in television, yet 4.8 million viewers on a pilot episode is pretty much out of control.

Even though it must be an amazing feeling for the producers of Boardwalk Empire, was it smart for network executives? On the second week it was down to 3.3 million viewers. Still amazing, but will this be a common trend?

SO. What an interesting time for immediate cancellations and renewals. What a great season 2010-2011 will be!

a million frowning faces towards the fact that according to reports Max Weinberg is NOT returning as Conan's faithful drumming sidekick when things kick back up again for CoCo in November.

Why??!! What else are you suppose to be doing with yourself? The E-Street Band isn't going on tour AGAIN are they???

Give me a break, Max. Being with Conan is probably one of the best things to happen to your career. Everyone's already moved out to LA, so why not take another chance??

BUT. Fun times for tv gossip: as I was reading Perez Hilton ( I know, shut up), it was reported that he might be looking to take over Kevin Eubank's position when he leaves Jay Leno. WHAT?

If that happens I will take it as a HUGE act of betrayal. I mean, I'm hoping there would be a legitimate reason since Max seems like a decent guy, but who knows in this town.

So for now, the leader position will be taken over by the less funny and less jewish Jimmy Vivino. I have nothing against him, but no one does a stare down like Max and Coco.

Lets remember him during the times he WASN'T on tour with Bruce Springsteen :

Favorites of the Week

SO. the first week of premieres has passed as this new week brings wonderment and hope of something great. Wowsers. Here is some of my favorites of this past week in tv:

Favorite SNL monologue :

I'm sorry but I thought this was hilarious. I'm never a HUGE fan of SNL, maybe its because I haven't been able to get passed the fact that we aren't still living in the 1990s and the best and brightest (in my opinion) are long gone.

BUT: "Rachel!" "Poehler Bear!" "Dratch bear!" "No! POLAR bear!" Hilarious.

And even though I never seem to find Jimmy Fallon THAT funny (what a giggle-bitch), he somehow seems to get it together with Tina Fey to really produce comedy magic. What a great way to start the season, lets hope for big things

Favorite cold open:

omg. How could you NOT love this? I'm aware that it caused some debate, due to the fact that even though The Office goes through plenty of unrealistic situations, it does as much as it can to keep within the realism of an office setting. I mean, could an office really be able to pull off a lip dub? In this fashion?

I say, fuck yes. When Dunder Mifflin is a company in a world when its regional manager Michael Scott's contribution to a lip dub is intense magic tricks... then yes. Anythings possible.

Favorite self deprecating joke:

Yes, Cougartown. You are STILL Cougartown, you didn't change your name LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE and have completely squashed all potential to breathe legitimate life into your show. Don't get me wrong, I still love the show and no matter what ANYONE (I'm looking at you, Perez Hilton) says, I loved Jennifer Aniston as Jules' cooky therapist.

However, as the season premiere came and went, apparently to low ratings, I'm nervous to see where the direction of the show is going to go. It seems to move so quickly, that it might just pull an OC, and just implode on its own storyline. I'm excited to see where it goes.

Favorite season premiere:

Modern Family.

Wow. I haven't laughed so hard all summer. Claire and Phil and the kids in the old station wagon just killed me. What a great way to prove your Emmy for best comedy. I'm obsessed with this show and can't wait to see it progress into an amazing series. congrats guys, you deserve it.

Other than that, on a ranting note, I just realized that I missed Dexter, Mad Men, Family Guy, AND American Dad. I think I had an aneurysm just from thinking about everything I have to catch up on. So, I will try my hardest but with my busy schedule that might be difficult.

Lets bring it back to the 90s

SO. Fun little story that inspired me to blog. I was reading through a powerpoint presentation for my intercultural communications class (I accidentally slept through it... whoops), and came across the "family" section of the powerpoint, and what defines it.

after a few definitions, my professor decided to list a few television shows that defined the idea of "family" throughout the years.

Of course, it started with Leave it to Beaver, and Father Knows Best in the 1950s,

then Julia, and The Brady Bunch, in the 1960s,

followed by The Partridge Family (who didn't love their music), Good Times, All in the Family, and Different Strokes in the 70s, what a decade for the untraditional family.

in the 1980s, of course, it was all about Rosanne and Cosby, just to name a couple. How about Charles in Charge? Thank you, Scott Baio.

BUT. When the slideshow came to the 1990s, the only example my professor used was: Friends. Really? Friends?

Now, of course being the lazy bitch that I am, I wasn't there in class to actually hear her explanation of how Friends fit in to this category. I'm assuming it went as such:

"These friends were so close they acted as a family...." and all that jazz. Or, maybe she was tired of listing some of the same old, multi-camera sitcom family shows.

But, what we have to remember is there were some AMAZING family shows throughout the 1990s, I know because I lived it. Lets take a look back at some of my favorites SHALL WE?:

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

omg. Well first of all lets just get it out of the way. Who didn't love, THE SONG

IIINNN WEST PHILADELPHIA BORN AND RAISED... enough.

This family-based sitcom was great as a wealthy African-American family living in California take in their cousin, played by Will Smith, a street smart class clown from Philadelphia who is always down for a good time and who occasionally clashed with the rest of the family's business sense, school first attitude. It was a wonderful case of opposites attract, and an eye opener for how family members can relate to each other, no matter how different they are.

The Nanny

this show is SO underrated. Even though everyone hated Fran Drescher's voice you can't help but love the comedy. This woman is absolutely hysterical with a show idea similar to one of The Fresh Prince, where an upper established family is brought back to Earth by some crazy outsider, causing mayhem. The show, which Drescher was executive producer, was different because even though many shows dealt with nannies, for the most part they were MALE nannies (Charles in Charge, Who's the Boss, etc). As far as I can remember, this show was one of the first in a while to have a female nanny come and implode the workings of a wealthy family, and actually be funny and successful. The chemistry between Fran and Maxwell is great, and it really brings me back to my "stay at home sick days" in elementary school.

Sister, Sister

if you were a female (and lets admit it, some males) who grew up in the 1990s you, at some point or another, watched this show. A NEW kind of Brady Bunch, except, get this, the sisters were RELATED. How convenient. Tia and Tamera were amazing throughout this show, and as a young child I thought they were the funniest things since the looney tunes. And with Jackee Harry and Tim Reid as the parents, you really couldn't go wrong. I loved the ridiculous concept of two sisters being separated at birth, finding one another, and having their parents fall in love. It was great and totally 90s.

3rd Rock From the Sun

YESSSS!!! So great!! Thank you John Lithgow, Kristen Johnson, French Stewart, and of course Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I love you all for making probably the most untraditional family sitcom ever. A group of aliens posing as an American Family in order to watch humans living in the "least important planet" in the universe? Absolutely brilliant and another underrated show. They really don't show enough of this in reruns and I would love nothing more than to get it as a box dvd set (HELLO PRESENT IDEASSS) This show was amazing because it tapped into all the ideas of what the "traditional American family" does, and of course, makes fun of it. Absolutely brilliant.
