SO. How does everyone feel about the newest character of Dexter: Lumen Pierce?
Quite update- Dexter found Pierce at the end of one of his kills, Boyd. Pierce was ultimately going to be one of Boyd's next victims, but since it seems to be that Dexter DOES have the capability to feel, he spares her life. For the past three or four episodes, we have been watching Dexter struggle to balance his normal life with his REAL life, as Pierce has the ability to risk spilling the truth towards everyone.
But what's been really happening is we (the viewer) have been following Pierce's need for revenge, as she poorly attempts to terminate all those who associated with Boyd during her capture.
So I have to say, I've never had such an emotional rollercoaster - type feeling with one character on a show. When she first shows up, I'm initially excited because A) LOVE Julia Styles, and B) I know her character will throw such a wrench into the "I'm Dexter, I'm always cool as beans" storyline, and this excites me.
THEN. Her second episode happens, and all hell is braking loose as she can't sit still for 5 seconds to let Dexter EXPLAIN what's going on... and I realize I am being a horrible bitch since she is just coming back to life after being abducted and raped... I suck. Bottom line - Dexter is beginning to lose his cool, and what was something that I was at first excited for, I am now dreading.
THENNN. The THIRD episode was even WORSE. She starts getting her shit together but can't kill anyone to save her life, and begins to blow Dexter's cover. I have to say, after watching an expert doing it for all those years, I have no patience for amateurs. I become immediately frustrated and want to pull my hair out when she gets in the cab to go back to Miami.
So. Its her fourth episode. I have lost all hope for me ever liking this character, and I have to say, with the first 40ish minutes or so, I kept true to that feeling. I knew exactly what was going to happen before the episode, but I didn't realize it would get that messy.
I can't believe I still covered my eyes and sat on the edge of my seat, thinking Dexter was going to get discovered... silly Katelyn.
But anyway, good call Pierce for realizing that it WAS the right guy, good call Dexter for your quick thinking, and I am left with the final scene between Dexter and Lumen, with Dexter realizing that helping her won't only help her, but himself with finding closure for Rita. I guess this will end the conflict between the two as I see them beginning to work together, maybe not seamlessly, but it'll be a start.
Also, poor Nanny! Dexter is the worst boss ever.
Also Also- Debrah and Quinn? gimmeafuckingbreak. Let's see how this one goes...
FINALLY: Check out this random wiki I found, with someone asking if Lumen might be Rita's secret daughter from her "mysterious" first marriage. I think it might be a stretch- did they mention Lumen's family already? But hey, lets just post it just to say... HA WE FOUND IT FIRST.
