Best of SNL

SORRY I'VE BEEN AWAY FOR SO LONG. If you even care, ha. But I took a much needed break in honor of midterms. woop.

As I was away, I couldn't help but spot so many articles and events I wanted to blog about... of course. So sorry if I sound outdated this week, but I just want to catch up.

So, one article that I thought was pretty cool was one celebrating Saturday Night Live's 35th anniversary, WOWSERS. It goes without saying that this show has had its ups and downs, but though everything, has definitely created some hilarious moments in television history.

for the article

Its pretty fun to look through all the sketches that you grew up with when you were younger. The article is divided in three parts: 70s through early 80s, then through the early 90s, then into today.
But with any article like this, there will of course be intense disagreements, I pretty much liked all of it... until MY favorite era of SNL: the late nineties.

WHY WOULD THEY MENTION:

THE BARRY GIBB TALK SHOW

Guh. I'm sorry but I can't help but DESPISE Justin Timberlake on SNL. Idk what's wrong with me, I guess he is a LITTLE funny, but how does this make the top 35?? Yes, Jimmy Fallon does a great Barry Gibb, but it just gets old with me.
If you were to mention ANY SNL JT sketch, why not that one where he dances... in that soup costume... idk but that one is pretty funny I guess.

ED GRIMLEY

I'm sorry. Maybe I'm a huge bitch, but I never found this sketch funny. Martin Short has a very particular brand of humor... and sometimes I just don't get it, maybe I should just shut my mouth... or maybe other people feel this way and so it shouldn't be on the countdown.

LANDSHARK

Yes, I am very well aware why Landshark is on this countdown. It was a huge sketch for the show. But again, I guess I'll be a huge bitch and say I just never found it that funny. Maybe its because this world really doesn't do candygrams anymore...

THANK GOODNESS THEY MENTIONED:

Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood

Oh, the glory days of Eddie Murphy. The comedy in this sketch is timeless. Before the days of Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy created this classic skit and bringing light to some of the major problems going on in certain parts of the country at the time. Absolutely hilarious.

SPROCKETS

HOLY SHIT. NOWS THE TIME I SPROCKETS WHEN WE DANCE. At least, I think that's what he's saying. I can't believe someone else likes this. Definitely one of the weirdest SNL sketches of all time, but just continues to show Mike Meyers Genius. Bravo, TV Squad, Bravo.

VINCENT PRICE

Bill Hader is absolutely hysterical. So far in my recent days of watching SNL, he is my go-to guy for a guaranteed laugh. I'm obsessed with him and I was SO glad to see at least one of his reoccurring characters on this list. Not to mention, Fred Armisen's hilarious portrayal of Liberacci and Kristen Wiig as Katherine Hepburn.

WHAT THIS LIST NEEDED:

The Festrunk Brothers

Really, TV Squad? are you going to miss out on this amazingly timeless sketch? Two of the greatest comedic minds of our time come together to create pretty much the jersey shore equivalent of the 70s: two wild and crazy guys.
Does anyone remember when they appeared during that Will Ferrell and Chris Katan Roxbury sketch? The perfect way to pay tribute to an amazing skit.

The Spartan Cheerleaders

honestly, this sketch is what made me love SNL in the 90s. Maybe it was because I was a lot younger and this totally played towards my immature humor, but I thought Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell were the funniest THINGS to ever exist. I would learn and repeat the chants and laugh along like the gigglebitch I was towards my favorite school outcasts.

What's Up With That

This is arguably one of my favorite reoccurring sketches in the recent times of SNL. I think it just portrays some of the randomness that existed in the earlier years that made people really fall in love with the show. Everything about this show is great: Kenan Thompson, Jason Sudekis (holy shit is he funny), Fred Armisen, the hilariously random celebrity guests, and of course... Lindsey Buckingham <~~ wtf?!

SO YEAH. tell me your thoughts! I know theres more I didn't mention.
